Dubai: Salah Alameri shot 41 (11) Stableford points to win Division B and the overall title of the The Senior Champions Tour (TSCT) October event at the Montgomerie Golf Club in Dubai on Wednesday.
The TSCT 2022–2023 is sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation and is sponsored by FOSROC, Accor-Live Limitless, RSA Global, eGolf Megastore, BMW AGMC, Bisdesk, De Luca Sartoria, and GULF NEWS. It is organized by Golf & Co.
A full field of 48 players competed in this two-tee start event. Alameri had a round of 78, net 67, with nines of 42 and 36.
The winner teed off on hole 1 and went out in 17 Stableford points, but roared home in an impressive 24 points including two gross birdies in his last four holes, the 15th and 17th. Dileep Vala (10) with 40 Stableford points, who shot a gross 78, won the Division A crown. Others of note included Steve Bennett (4), who shot a gross 74 in his first event on The Senior Champions Tour.
Vijay Vasu, the co-founder and organiser of The Senior Champions Tour under the umbrella of the organisers Golf & Co, said: “We are extremely grateful to all players for competing today in the October event of our season-long series of The Senior Champions Tour. It is exciting to see the growth of the membership of TSCT as well as our regulars continuing their support. We had a waitlist for our event today, which is a testament to the standing of TSCT on the UAE Calendar. We thank the Emirates Golf Federation for their loyal support. We were impressed with the low scoring today and it seems inevitable that some of our winners will rightly be rewarded with EGF handicap reductions.”
The next tournament on The Senior Champions Tour takes place at Al Zorah Golf Club, Ajman, UAE on November 30. Entries for the next tournament close at 6 pm on Friday, November 25 on a first-come-first-served basis.
